Lease Extension

The original term of the lease on all Teddington Grange properties was 99 years from the time they were released for sale. As the remaining term decreases the property becomes less valuable. Building Societies prefer longer leases as security, especially for first time buyers. Selling properties with leases of less than 70 years will become increasingly difficult as time progresses.

Although lease terms and their negotiations are not the responsibility of the Management Company the following information has been included for information only.

A number of leaseholders invited Shaw and Company based in Richmond to give a Leasehold Enfranchisement Seminar back in June 1998. After which around 40 decided to group together and employ Shaw and Company to negotiate on their behalf to extend their lease term. Perry Hay & Co Solicitors then carried this out work on behalf of each lessee with the Lessor - Peppercorn Property Investments Ltd.

If you wish to extend your original lease term you can either contact the Lessor directly or you could seek advice from Shelagh Testar of Perry Hay & Co who has experience in dealing with the Lessor.
